Erynn and her family were on holiday at a beach in Nantucket, Massachusetts. With her dad Derrick, she was swimming and filming the impressive waves with her camera. Then, suddenly, Erynn was hit by a rip current. She struggles to swim against it but it was hard for her. Her mom, Jennifer, got caught up in the tide too when she attempted to help her.

She held on to the selfie stick while her dad attempted to drag her back to shore and keep her above water, the pair told the Boston Globe.
Tommy Vach, another holiday maker rescued Erynn who was able to hang on until help came. Fortunately, her parents were also saved by local lifeguards and Vach and received medical attention immediately.

Speaking to the Boston Globe, Derrick Johns said: “I was a Marine, and I’ve been in some pretty harrowing situations. That one was the scariest, because it wasn’t just me, it was my wife and daughter.”
