7 Found Footage Horror Movies That You Have To Watch

Hello, my name is Akari. Akari Kekse. Today, I have something to confess: I love found-footage horror films. I declare myself guilty.
I know that in the last few years there has been a supersaturation of this genre and that, sadly, most of these movies take old ideas and present nothing new.
But trust me, there are great concepts and ideas still out there. I will present to you some of my favorite films that I have watched lately that will give you a new vision of this genre.
As always, I would love to hear suggestions for movies of this genre that you have loved in the comment section. I am a horror fan and I am always looking for a good scare.
Hope that you enjoy it!

1. The Taking of Deborah Logan

Possession films work better when the individual possessed is likable and has a good and kind nature. This is the case of Deborah Logan, an old lovely woman suffering from Alzheimer's. Her daughter, to get medical support and some extra money to pay the expensive treatment, decides to have a filming crew recording the changes that this terrible illness brings to her mother's life.
Soon the events turn to the insane and bizarre when Deborah starts to act strangely. At first, they blame the disease, but then, they will realize that something diabolical and sinister is behind her affliction.
The acting of Jill Larson (Deborah Logan) will make you feel sorry for her pain and suffering. Highly recommendable.

2. The Bay

A horror movie with social content? Yes, hard to believe but it is true. This movie explores the horrific consequences of the disdain and haughtiness that humans beings show to mother nature.
The residents of a small American town are being attacked by a terrible and mysterious disease that drives them insane while destroying their organs and skin. Several cameras all around this condemned town record this dreadful incident that is presented to you as a documentary.
A great movie that will make you shudder and reflect. Not for the weak of heart.

3. Banshee Chapter

If you love H.P. Lovecraft's works, you will like this movie; a worthy tribute to the master. It is based in one of his magnificent stories: From Beyond. Also, it deals with the damnable experiment of the CIA known as MK-Ultra (Illuminati alert!) and the terrible sequels to its test subjects.
I loved this movie for his creepy atmosphere and the eternal underlying feeling that something wrong will occur at any minute. Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs, Monk) acts great as an old junkie hippie writer (inspired by Hunter S. Thompson) who posses a secret and dark past and will serve as the key to this mystery.
As a trivia data, this movie was about to be directed by Christopher Nolan, but he decided to direct Interstellar instead (!).

4. Lake Mungo

The creepiest one of the list. I loved this movie because it demands your complete attention every second. You will be looking at the screen searching for ghostly images and clues to solve this complex puzzle.
This movie is presented as a documentary. It narrates the secret life of a young woman who died in a lake. Her past was more sinister and perverse than her sweet and normal appearance could reveal. And the revelations will not only surprise you, but will give you nightmares.

5. The Borderlands

Another movie that will remind you of Lovecraft. A group of people specialized in uncovering false miracles are sent by the Vatican to investigate an old church where something strange is happening. They soon will find that the supposed miracle is not caused by a good divinity but by something malevolent and perverse.

6. Europa Report

A group of scientists and astronauts are sent to one of Jupiter's moons searching for alien life. They expect to find the most elementary forms of existence, like bacteria or celled organisms, but they will find something else, something that will put at risk both their lives and their sanity.
The plot of this movie may sound similar to "Apollo 18" but I think that this one is better. I am not lying to you when I say that this movie gave me nightmares.

7. The Possession of Michael King

Michael King is a man who lost his wife, and his faith, due to the erratic predictions of a fortune teller. He, as a way to cope the pain (and the anger), will try to disprove the existence of the supernatural world submitting himself to a series of satanic rituals to summon demons and evil spirits.
You must be guessing by now that everything went horribly wrong.
