55,000 black shade balls are released onto the surface of the Los Angeles Reservoir, within LADWP's Los Angeles Aqueduct Filtration Plant. This delivery occurred during our "Reservoir Walk" with General Manager Marcie Edwards and Water System Assistant General Manager Marty Adams on May 31, 2014. Shade ball deliveries like this one occur weekly and by the time all the balls are in place, there will be about 77 million, forming a floating cover. This innovation comes from one of our own employees and is one of the many ways LADWP goes above and beyond to bring our customers pure clean refreshing tap water 24/7/365. We meet or exceed all water quality standards- have a glass right now and taste for yourself!
